Yana Yanezic was born in Slovenia, a former Yugoslavian republic.
She began learning Ice Skating, Gymnastics and Ballet at the age of four. When aged just eight she began performing in various ice skating and dance shows.
After five years her skating had to finish due to a lack of government funding for this particular sport. Yana then decided to join a Ballet Academy and became a professional dancer instead.
While performing in Slovenia, she was awarded a talent scholarship to further study dance and drama in London. This meant leaving home on her own at a young age, legaly only just old enough to be allowed to do so.
At the time Yana was also studying Economics and Politics at the University of Ljubljana - Slovenia. She graduated with a Degree in Economics, and soon after she graduated with Musical Theatre Diploma from London Studio Centre.
Former Yugoslavia then started to go through civil war.
Returning home at the time was now not possible due to this, so Yana joined a dance company based in Barcelona and through them performed in Spain, Germany and USA. On returning to London Yana continued with her dance career.
She is also a Tae-Kwon-Do gold medalist, avid iceskater and waterskier, Certified Stott Pilates Instructor and Athletic Conditioning Specialist.
Yana has been encouraged to move into acting by directors she worked with during her dance career and the beginnings of her acting career, some of whom were Ian Softley, Jonathan Glazier, Nick Willing, Sandra Goldbacher, Ken Grieve and Ed Bennet.
